Comparison

Razored vs. Zenoti

Zenoti is enterprise software for spa, salon and medspa groups, and it does not publish a price. Razored is $25 to $150 a month, published, month to month. These are not the same purchase — and for most shops the decision is easier than the feature lists make it look.

The short answer

Buy Zenoti when the shape of your business demands it.

Choose Zenoti if you run ten or more locations, if your units are franchised and somebody has to calculate and collect royalties, if memberships are a core revenue line rather than a nice-to-have, or if you deliver medical or injectable services that need charting and consent forms. In those four situations Zenoti does things we do not, and the gap is not close.

Choose Razored if you run one to fifteen barbershops, hair salons or nail studios, you want to know what it costs before you sit through a demo, and you would rather not pay more every time you hire a barber.

The practical difference

One of us publishes a price.

Razored · monthly software
$25 / $50 / $150

Solo provider, then per location with unlimited providers, then two locations included and $50 for each one after. Month to month. No per-seat fee, no implementation fee.

Zenoti · monthly software
Not published

Zenoti’s own pricing page publishes no figures. Multi-location pricing is, in their words, customised to your footprint and needs. You book a demo and receive a quote.

This is not a small thing. If a vendor will not publish a number, you cannot benchmark the quote you are given, which means you have no leverage in the negotiation and no way to model the cost against revenue before you are already inside the sales process.

Third-party directories list a starting figure for Zenoti. We are not going to quote a competitor’s price from a source that competitor does not stand behind. If you want their number, ask them for it in writing before the demo.

Straight about it

Eight things Zenoti does that we do not.

Written from Zenoti’s own published material, not from a sales deck. Some of these would change how a fifteen-shop chain operates. Some are irrelevant unless you are a medspa.

Revenue model

Memberships with recurring billing

Zenoti bills a card on a schedule and carries a prepaid service balance that redeems at any location. We have gift cards, promotions and lifetime customer spend — but nothing that runs a monthly cut club. If recurring revenue is the plan, this is the gap that matters most.

Money out

Payroll that actually files

Zenoti calculates and files federal and state tax across all fifty states, generates W-2s and handles garnishments, and lands digital tips in the employee’s wallet at end of shift. We produce payroll summaries — a report you hand to a payroll provider. That is a real difference if you operate in more than one state.

Front of house

A phone layer

Their AI Receptionist answers inbound calls during the rush, evenings and weekends, books appointments, offers a reschedule when someone calls to cancel, and enforces cancellation fees. We have no telephony at all. At fifteen shops that is fifteen lines nobody is staffing at five o’clock.

Front of house

A guest-facing kiosk

Guests check themselves in, join the waitlist and see the real wait time on a kiosk in the shop. Our walk-in queue is excellent and it is staff-side — someone at the desk checks every guest in. For a walk-in-heavy barbershop this one stings, because walk-ins are what we are best at.

Labour

Demand-forecast rostering

Zenoti builds a demand forecast from historical patterns, seasonality and service mix, then proposes the week’s roster — how many providers and which skills on shift. We give you shift management: you build the schedule, we help you run it.

Retention

Loyalty points and campaign marketing

A points ledger with tiers and expiry rules, dynamic guest segments, and behaviour-triggered email and SMS campaigns. Our messaging is transactional — confirmations and reminders — plus promotions and discounts. There is no campaign builder and no segmentation.

Franchise

Royalty calculation and collection

Automated franchisor royalties as a percentage or a fixed fee, calculated on actual revenue, approved or waived per franchisee and transferred on a schedule. Our operator hierarchy and corporate promotions are brand-control features. They are not money movement. If your units are franchised, this one item may decide the whole thing.

Medical

Clinical charting and consent

SOAP-style treatment notes, injection-site charting, digital intake and consent forms, a consolidated medical record and a HIPAA-compliant environment. Irrelevant to a barbershop. Decisive for a medspa, and we are not competing for that business.

The other direction

Where we would pick Razored.

  • You can see the price. $25, $50, $150. It is on the pricing page, it does not change because of who you are, and you do not need a demo to find out.
  • Hiring does not raise the bill. Growth and Scale include unlimited staff and providers. Add a barber, pay the same.
  • Multi-location without going enterprise. Scale is $150 for two locations and $50 for each one after, and it includes the Enterprise Hub, cross-location dashboards, brand-level customer information, operator hierarchy, regional roles, corporate promotions, product push-down and inventory transfers.
  • Month to month. No annual commitment, no paid implementation, no contract to exit.
  • The walk-in queue is a first-class part of the day, not a waitlist bolted onto a calendar — including skill-based matching so the guest gets a provider who does that service.
  • An appointment-change audit trail. Who moved what, and when. Zenoti does not name an equivalent on its site.
  • Built by people who run shops. We operate No Grease barbershops and the platform runs in them every day. Every feature started as a problem on our own floor.
Straight answers

Razored vs. Zenoti, answered.

How much does Zenoti cost?

Zenoti does not publish pricing. Its pricing page states that multi-location pricing is customised based on your footprint and needs, and directs you to book a demo for a quote. Third-party directories list a starting figure, but Zenoti does not confirm it publicly, so treat it carefully. Ask for the number in writing before the demo.

What is a good Zenoti alternative for barbershops?

It depends on why you are looking. If Zenoti is too much platform for your size, Razored is $50 per location per month with unlimited providers and includes the walk-in queue, commission tracking and multi-location dashboards. Squire is barbershop-specific and flat per shop. Mangomint is the best-built product in the category but starts at $120 plus $10 for every staff profile.

Does Razored do memberships or recurring billing?

Not today. We have gift cards, promotions and discounts, and lifetime customer spend on every profile, but nothing that charges a card on a schedule or carries a prepaid service balance across locations. If a monthly membership is central to how you make money, Zenoti does this and we do not.

Does Zenoti run payroll?

Yes — it calculates and files federal and state tax across all fifty states, generates and files W-2s and 1099s, handles garnishments, and pays digital tips into an employee wallet at end of shift. Razored produces payroll summaries, which is a report you hand to a separate payroll provider. If you operate in more than one state, that difference is real.

Is Zenoti worth it for a fifteen-location barbershop chain?

If those fifteen shops are franchised, probably yes — royalty calculation and collection across units is not something a franchisor can reasonably do in spreadsheets, and Razored has no royalty concept. If they are corporate-owned barbershops, the case is much weaker: you would be buying membership billing, filed payroll, a phone layer and kiosks, and paying enterprise pricing for a medspa platform you will use a fraction of.

Can I run multiple locations on Razored?

Yes. Scale is $150 per month and includes two locations, then $50 for each additional one, with unlimited providers throughout. It includes the Enterprise Hub, cross-location dashboards, brand-level customer information, location and provider rankings, operator hierarchy, regional roles, advanced permissions, corporate promotions, product push-down and inventory transfers.

Does Zenoti work for barbershops specifically?

It does, and it handles walk-in queues alongside booked appointments. But Zenoti is built for spa, salon and medical aesthetics groups, and a large part of what you would pay for — clinical charting, consent forms, photo management, multi-region tax — has nothing to do with cutting hair. The question is not whether it works. It is how much of it you would actually use.
